The CTO Department


The CTO department is responsible for all technical solutions, from the grid connection down to the site facilities, including auxiliary systems. This also include development of (future) topics in the area of driver services, safety and security. This is why this department needs different experts to cover different subjects.


We are at the beginning of building a Pan-European network for electric long-haul trucking. Nothing has been set yet, all is to be discovered and build. Both the trucks and the charging solutions are still in development. However, we do know that charging the electric trucks require a reliable, efficient and effective charging system, and this is key to be successful.


The CTO department works closely with the other departments within Milence to ensure we have and develop the right solutions for our portfolio. We will also be working in close alignment with different external parties to steer the market where needed and develop the best charging solutions for our network.


The Job


For our CTO department, we are looking for an MEP (Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing) engineer who will make a significant contribution to Milence's success. Since we're building customer-centric charging locations with rest and recharging facilities, we need more than just a charger. This means that in addition to the charging and energy infrastructure, the Milence locations will also require different types of facilities such as restrooms, showers, coffee corners and, potentially, a restaurant. Next to that, the site requires a high level of safety, such as cameras and electric entrance gates, as well as conveniences such as Wi-Fi, for which you will also be responsible. All these aspects need to be designed, engineered and constructed as modular solutions for all Milence locations in Europe. You will be our expert on the installation & construction-related aspects of the engineering team.


You will provide technical guidance to colleagues and support the successful deployment of the Milence sites, as well as monitor and improve the site-level performance. Always keeping an eye out for market trends and developments to keep Milence as a technological leader.


As an MEP Engineer, you will be;


  • A knowledgeable expert for our site installations and buildings
  • Contribute to the development of the modular site solutions
  • Work with 3rd parties and select and validate to right solutions for our locations
  • Improve and monitor the solutions constantly
  • Will constantly align with the Customer Journey & Marketing teams to ensure the facilities fit-out proposition and are well received by drivers
  • Will constantly align with the local teams to ensure the correct site delivery and compliance with applicable legislation


The job will be based in our Amsterdam and/or Arnhem office. However, Arnhem will be the main base for our CTO department.

Job requirements

Who are we looking for?

We would like to recruit someone with at least 2-3 years of working experience in a similar job or market field.


You should be familiar with common practices in construction and civil engineering and (international) norms and regulations. Understanding the driver's needs and having knowledge and experience in providing a great customer journey.


You have a background in civil engineering and installations.


You should be familiar with common practices in building construction and installations.


You can work independently and are a fast learner.

Your English is excellent (and if you do not speak Dutch that is fine).


You are familiar to the renewable energy sector/e-mobility.


You have strong analytical skills with the ability to problem solve to well-judged decisions


You look forward to learning new things and pick them up quickly, this includes -new skills, environments, people skills and are resilient.

The base salary level (all in) is oriented towards 70.000EUR; The on target annual incentive is 20% - with a maximum of 40%.
