The Department - Finance

The department where the numbers do the talking. Combining sustainability with finances isn’t always an easy task, but our specialised teams cover all necessary functions, including accounting, reporting, planning and analysis. We are a professional and dedicated team, working across functions to build a sustainable future. Together with our Procurement and Supply Chain Team, as well as the Project Management Office, our common goal is to make a difference, and the finance department is pivotal in achieving this.


The job

As a Junior Financial Controller, you will support the finance team in managing all aspects of the company's financial operations. You will work closely with various departments within the organization to ensure accurate financial reporting, compliance with regulations and effective financial management.


Your primary responsibilities will be:

  • Collaborate closely with the external accounting service provider to ensure the timely and accurate completion of financial reports and deliverables.
  • Review and analyze financial data provided by the external service provider, identifying discrepancies and areas for improvement.
  • Actively participate in the set-up and build-up of financial operations for new international legal entities across Europe and to coordinate and secure their daily financial operations.
  • Support the implementation and improvement of accounting policies and internal financial controls and procedures to ensure accuracy and reliability of financial data and compliance with regulations.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements, ensuring accuracy and adherence to accounting standards.
  • Provide support during audits by preparing necessary documentation and assisting with inquiries.
  • Drive process improvements and automation initiatives to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Support tax-related matters and returns, collaborating with tax consultants or preparing tax filings.

The job will be based in our Amsterdam and/or Arnhem office.

Job requirements

Who are we looking for?

  • You have at least 3 years of experience as a Junior Financial Controller or in a similar role.

  • You bring a good understanding of IFRS accounting and financial reporting principles and practices.

  • You have a problem-solving mindset and critical thinking skills; together with excellent organizational abilities to manage multiple tasks effectively.

    You ideally hold a bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Business Administration.

  • You have experience using Power BI (Creating Dashboards). 

  • Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy in financial data.

  • You should be proficient in working with numbers and figures.

  • Your English is excellent, and ideally you speak either French or German at a fluent/professional level (and if you do not speak Dutch that is fine).

  • You look forward to learning new things and pick them up quickly, this includes -new skills, environments, people skills and are resilient.
